Responsibilites:

  • Accomplish thinkmakebuild’s mission

  • Understand, use & teach the processes used throughout thinkmakebuild
  • Serve as one of thinkmakebuild’s representatives to the Owner and design team in a manner that elicits favor, trust and loyalty
  • Participate in meetings with owners, architects, consultants, inspectors, utility companies and subcontractors
  • Supervise day to day operations of the construction site
  • Coordinate, direct work alongside and supervise on site tmb personnel, subcontractors, and vendors in a manner that elicits the best possible performance from all
  • Work with the Project Manager and field staff to build the project with the goal of assuring that the project is built correctly and within the scheduled time and budget
  • Assure all field timecards and company documentation is submitted in a timely manner
  • Communicate clearly, fully and honestly with Project Manager
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager on creating and maintaining the schedule
  • Meet monthly with the Project Manager to review monthly budget reports
  • Keep continually abreast of change management
  • Assure all approved construction scope is followed and communicate all extra work on a daily basis
  • Capture all changes in Change Events
  • Participate and ensure overall job safety
  • Read, understand and remember the drawings, specifications and contracts
  • Initiate daily quality control measures to assure craftsmanship is always evident
  • Assess constructibility of the design and solve problems as early as possible
  • Ask and answer questions to solve problems as early as possible
  • Offer cost-saving and quality-enhancing alternatives
  • Schedule and conduct pre-construction meetings with subcontractors, vendors and government entities
  • Obtain the final inspection and certificate of occupancy
  • Manage completion of the final punch list

Qualifications:

  • 10 years experience as a construction Superintendent
  • 10 years supervising self performed work
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of construction costs and accounting
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of construction scheduling
  • Thorough familiarity with surveying and layout
  • Thorough familiarity with construction methods and materials and their characteristics, installation procedures and tolerances
  • Thorough familiarity with architecture
  • Thorough familiarity with geotechnical, civil, structural mechanical and electrical engineering principals
  • The ability to drive complex and difficult processes to completion
  • Strong math and written and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Depending on the size and scope of the project the job may require the participation in demolition and carpentry related tasks
  • The job requires regular work at construction sites with exposure to moving mechanical part, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock
  • The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud
  • Able to lift 75 pounds

  • Create & maintain reliable schedules
  • Ensure that safety procedures are followed
  • Ensure the financial health of the project by monitoring and forecasting all costs
  • Track and capture all changes
  • Track subcontractors’ and suppliers’ performance
  • Earn the stated overhead and profit
  • Ensure plan sets are up-to date in Proccore
  • The change management process is followed rigorously and that change orders are created and presented in a timely manner
  • The submittal process is followed correctly and well
  • Job files are well maintained in Dropbox
  • Meeting minutes are clear, accurate, complete, and timely
  • Owner’s Manuals are properly compiled
  • Requirements for insurance, safety, and employee relations are met
  • Manage the completion of the project
  • Obtain the final inspection and certificate of occupancy
  • Inspect the work, write the punch list, and manage the completion of all work
  • Audit all subcontracts
  • Coordinate training of the client’s personnel
  • Obtain final payment from the client
  • Maintain a long-term relationship with the client and architect

Qualifications:

  • A 4-year degree in construction management or equivalent experience
  • Ten or more years experience in construction
  • Skillful with:
    – Procore or similar project management software
    – Smartsheet or similar scheduling software

  • Develop project schedules from design through construction that provide guidance to the team
  • Perform constructability reviews to improve the drawings and avoid change orders
  • Research and dispense astute advice on the designs of building systems

Qualifications:

  • A 4-year degree in construction management or equivalent experience
  • Three or more years experience
  • Skilled with:
    –    Procore or similar project management software
    –    Smartsheet or similar scheduling software
    –    Apple Pages and Numbers or similar applications
